Windows updates are sometimes annoying and a major reason for the low performance of your system. If you are currently on a stable release and handling your work peacefully, you can think of disabling the automatic updates in Windows.
To disable it:
- Go to Control Panel – Administrative Tools – Services
- Locate the entry “Windows Update” in the services list
- Take Windows Update Properties by either double clicking it or right click – Properties.
- In the Windows Update Properties dialogue box, click on Stop if the Service status is showing as Started. Also, set Startup type to Disabled.
- Click Ok and close the Services window.
That’s all required to disable automatic updates in Windows 10. Please note, you need to check the Service status frequently to make sure that it remains stopped especially after system restarts.
However, keep in mind that disabling the updates has its downsides like some windows security patches not being updated or installed, Windows Defender not being updated, some Windows apps being failed, etc.
